Mobile spectrometer Minilab SL

The Minilab SL optical emission spectrometer is the first domestic mobile-class spectrometer with a remote probe-gun. The main purpose is to control and quickly (20 seconds) determine the brand of metals and alloys on the production site.

Minilab SL - an unpretentious device. The dimensions (55cm*36.5 cm*29cm) and weight (25 kg) of the device allow you to move it on a special handcart, in a car, etc. And the results of the express analysis correspond to the results of long and expensive laboratory tests.

Optical emission spectral analysis (OES) compares favorably with X-ray fluorescence analysis, which uses energy-dispersive detectors, by the absence of ionizing radiation sources and the ability to analyze light elements: lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon in steel, as well as magnesium and aluminum in amounts less than 0.1 %. Without knowledge of the quantitative content of the listed elements, sorting of steels and many alloys is not correctly solved. This leads to the absolute advantage of the Minilab SL over the X-ray guns.

Tasks for the mobile spectrometer

  • express analysis of any metal and alloy, sorting;
  • analysis of the composition of large products without cutting off the sample;
  • operational assessment of the percentage of expensive alloying elements when assessing the cost of secondary metal;
  • preventing confusion of parts and workpieces in large-scale production;
  • charge analysis for melting control;
  • analysis of the composition and determination of the metal grade during the cutting and disposal of ships, aircraft, and other objects.

Features

Minilab SL consists of two parts: an optoelectronic unit and a probe-gun. They are connected by a cable to the light guide through a special connector. The device is powered by AC power or a car battery. The spectrometer is moved on handcart. All the composite blocks are installed on it. It works with argon purging of the chamber (optionally with air purging).

Note: the device has a built-in power corrector, which allows it to operate at a mains voltage of 180-240 V. An important addition is a flexible table that transforms it into a universal desktop device. The metal grade can be determined automatically thanks to the built-in database of metal grades and modern software.
